Will this help me write for magazines?
Clips Camp isn’t designed for magazine writing. It teaches how to write blog posts for clients, as an entry point into freelance writing. If you’re interested in writing for magazines or for doing any kind of freelance writing outside of blog posts to start, I’d be happy to recommend other resources for you!
Will this help me with my own blog?
Yes… but if you’re in a position to need Clips Camp because you have no writing samples, I would recommend you temporarily shelve your own blog. It’s very difficult to get two businesses off the ground at once… and a blog is a separate business from a freelance writing career.

When does it start and finish?
Clips Camp is self-paced and open immediately. You're in charge of when you start, and you're in charge of when you finish. That said, I encourage you to move through the lessons as quickly as you feel comfortable and then start implementing immediately.
The meat of the course is divided into three “weeks” (to keep with the camp idea). You have access to everything immediately, though, and you’re free to move through the modules at your pace. Each module builds on the one before it, so come into it expecting to have homework. These samples won’t write themselves, after all! But I break it down as simply as I can for you.
The lessons are available in your course dashboard, which can be accessed from any device with an internet connection. You're also able to download every lesson to store and use on your own.
Is this for content writing or copywriting?
This course specifically teaches content writing, via blog posts. We don’t get into any other writing formats and we touch very briefly on a few elements of direct response copywriting to help strengthen the content, but the focus is on content writing.
Blog posts are a great “point of entry” for new freelance writers, because the barrier to entry is low and the risks are also low. The drawback is that it’s not the most lucrative form of writing (though it can certainly keep the lights on, as it did for me for years!). It’s easy to transition out of blog posts and into other, higher-paid types of writing including copywriting.
But because I see blog posts as the easiest way to get started, it’s what I teach as the starting point.
